MSA Mentors coach our clients through the SafeMeasures Process. The mentors provide advice and guidance to schools in all aspects of the process and on-going support for sustaining school climate improvement projects. Our mentors come from a variety of backgrounds and contribute valuable knowledge and experience to our clients.
Richard A. Abramson, Superintendent, Maranacook Area Schools
Rich has worked with his own District for the past 6 years on school climate issues as well as supporting the work of MainStreet Academix in his District for the past 4 years. He works with Principals and Superintendents throughout Maine and the country on a variety of "wellness" issues (particularly school climate).
Melissa D. Dearborn, MAT
Melissa teaches a multi-age class at the Integrated Day Charter School in Norwich, Connecticut. As one of the original teachers, she has helped the school grow to become a model program for innovative practice including intensive community building, student empowerment, and student research. Melissa received her BA from Goddard College in Vermont and her MAT from Connecticut College. A consultant for Main Street Academix since 2004, Melissa has facilitated various workshops in Connecticut, Tennessee, and New Hampshire drawing upon her extensive background in teaching and learning. Melissa also completed study at the Institute of Expressive Arts at Salve Regina University and offers workshops on integrating the arts into the school day for greater academic achievement as well as personal well-being.
Christopher E. Overtree, PhD
Dr. Overtree is the Director of the Psychological Services Center (PSC) and the Associate Director of Clinial Training for the Clinical Psychology Program at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, an APA accredited program since 1957. As a clinician and supervisor, he works with all ages, but specializes in children, adolescents, and individuals with anxiety or depressive symptoms. Dr. Overtree is an integrative therapist with a specialty in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. Dr. Overtree is a graduate of Princeton University (BA) and the University of Massachusetts-Amherst ( M.S. & Ph.D.). He completed a pre-doctoral internship in Community Mental Health Counseling at Dartmouth Medical School. He has been working with Main Street Academix since 2004.
Liliana Rodriguez, PhD
Dr. Rodriguez is the Director of Diversity Recruitment and the Associate Director of Admission at Williams College, one of the nation's oldest liberal arts colleges (est. 1793). As a psychologist by training and an administrator in practice, she works on issues of college access and college retention, seeking to keep low-income and at-risk students in school. Her specialty is identity development in adolescents and young adults, with a particular focus on social group memberships (from racial identity to school cliques) and their impact on academic achievement and mental health. Dr. Rodriguez graduated from Williams College (BA) and the University of Massachusetts-Amherst ( M.S. & Ph.D.). She has been a part of the Main Street Academix team since 2004.
